The first cacao-planted area in Malaysia was believed to have been in Malacca in 1778. These days, most cacao farms have vanished as farmers switch to more profitable crops such as palm trees durian trees. 31 year old Mr Simon Ting, took over a plot of 20acre land from his father and decided to plant cacao and coconut trees. Simon learned everything from scratch from planting and harvesting to fermentation and drying. His hard-work paid off as his cacao beans are now sold to several major artisanal chocolate makers in Malaysia. He planted about 3500 cacao trees over 12 acres land in Kampung Panchor.
Harvest season are September/October and March/April producing about 3500kg of high quality cacao beans. Panchor has a distinct flavor notes of Milk & Malt.
