🤖❤️ High School Robotics Team Builds $20,000 Wheelchair for Toddler 💡❤️
In Farmington, Minnesota, kindness and innovation came together to change a child’s life. Two-year-old Cillian Jackson, born with a rare genetic condition, needed a specialized wheelchair costing nearly $20,000—but insurance refused to cover it.
That’s when students from Rogue Robotics, a high school robotics team, stepped in. Inspired by the GoBabyGo mobility initiative, they transformed a Power Wheels toy car into a fully functional electric wheelchair.
Using 3D-printed parts, rewired electronics, and a joystick control, they built a safe, customized vehicle complete with a harness and supportive seating.
The project not only gave Cillian freedom to move but also showed how creativity and compassion can bridge gaps that systems often leave behind. Delivered just before Christmas, the gift became more than mobility—it became hope, independence, and proof of the power of youth-driven innovation.
What other everyday problems could be solved with this kind of student-led innovation? Have you seen a similar project in your community?
