𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓/𝟎𝟐 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐩 📚

𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫! 🌟 After weeks of tackling problems, breaking down concepts, and keeping each other on track, our study group has wrapped up. Along the way, we challenged ourselves, strengthened our understanding, and gained new perspectives on tricky topics.

𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲! 🍾 We built a foundation with key definitions, tackled challenging ideas, and explored how abstract structures connect to broader math concepts. Hopefully this seminar brought a deeper understanding and greater appreciation for algebraic geometry.

Topic: Hilbert Functions and Hilbert Polynomials
Speaker: Yao Yichen

We’re finishing strong with our last session of this semester! This talk introduces Hilbert function of a projective variety V, and Hilbert polynomial, which is a polynomial such that Hilbert polynomial equals to when the variable is large enough. We will start from introduce graded rings and graded ideals, and lead out to Hilbert function. We also will see the relation between Hilbert functions and pascal triangle, and see some examples of Hilbert function. And then we will see Hilbert-Serre theorem.
