Play-based learning through joyful, hands-on and educational experiences! Seen here is one of the many games played at the third Community Literacy and Numeracy Event in Thopuitho, Nampula! Play- based learning is at the cornerstone of F&H's literacy and numeracy capacity building program in the district of Larde.

F&H was thrilled to meet with over 500 parents in the Larde District for our second parent workshop, working together to support literacy and numeracy at school and at home for their children. Parents also created educational materials out of recycled goods and learned games to play with their kids at the second L&N community event!

In 2023, F&H continued our mission to ‘take action that is contextually meaningful and globally relevant to be in service of people and planet’, and were honored to collaborate with incredible partners across private and public sectors.

Although late, we would like to express our gratitude to Grindrod in their support within our social and environmental pillar, making possible the dream of more than 20 years in completing the construction of a community teaching and learning center in the Sibakuse community. F&H’s work with AISJ and Oslo International School under our education pillar, continued to authentically connect local context to curriculum, fostering global citizenship among students and educators. Year two of partnering with Coca-Cola Beverages Africa on women empowerment activities, allowed for the micro-business, and health and safety training of 100 plastic collectors, who through a train-the-trainer model ultimately reached 10 466 individuals by means of knowledge sharing and provided economic inclusion opportunities to an additional 816 individuals.

Our deepest thanks to other collaborators from 2023, Eden Reforestation Projects, Parque Nacional de Maputo, Nandos Peri Peri Maxamba, Natura Mozambique, and Africa Panorama Group who we had the privilege of working alongside. Finally, we express our ongoing gratitude to our F&H staff whose expertise in the areas of health, language, national policy, economics and indigenous agriculture, make our programs possible.
