Missing Teacher Found Dead in Mangochi

Alice Wiliat, a teacher at Chiona Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Mangochi District who was reported missing a few days ago, has been found lifeless.

Wiliat had been missing since Thursday, December 11, 2025. Reports indicated that she left home to go to the farm but stopped at a nearby house to leave her bicycle and continue on foot.

She never returned to collect the bicycle and was not seen again, prompting concern from family members authorities.

Her body was later discovered in a river between Chiona Primary School and Mbonechera Primary school in the district. Police have since launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

Wiliat hailed from Kayembe in Dowa District. Before her posting to Chiona CDSS, she taught at Chiona Primary School in Boma Zone, Mangochi District.
