Ocean View Cabanas is a small, private self-catering resort with only four chalets, perfectly located in Ponta do Ouro above the main beach with spectacular sea views.
Each chalet offers air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi, a braai on the deck, access to a swimming pool in the resort, and daily servicing. The main beach, restaurants, dive centres, and dolphin-swimming activities are all just a 2-minute walk away.

The Pongola route doesn't seem to be a popular option on this Group, but in my opinion, its always an option to seriously consider.

Take N4 out of Pretoria and take the Carolina turnoff about 10km after Alzu. The Carolina, Amsterdam, Piet Retief road is beautiful. The Piet Retief to Pongola section is where opinions differ. The 1st 60km towards Pongola is an uneven piece of road requiring more patient driving. Last Sunday when I passed though there, there were 2 x stop/go sections where the road is been re surfaced. Coal trucks on this road also requires one to be patient.
After 60km the road gets broader and much easier to drive and negotiate trucks for the remaing 40km toward Pongola. Truck traffic not more than the Lebombo route. The road continues like that until 50km after Pongola where you turn left toward and through Jozini, crossing the Jozini dam wall. 1st 10km after Jozini lots of speedbumps. Last 5km before the T junction also drive patient for potholes and speedbumps. From T junction where you turn right for last 85km toward Kosi Bay border, road is easy to negotiate.

For best Kosi Bay border times in season, pitch after 14:00. The Moz part of your travels is also a much easier, roadblock-less 15km to Ponta do Ouro.

So yes, if you are prepared for a 60km stretch of patient driving on uneven surface between Piet Retief and Pongola, then this a good alternative. You even save more than R300 on toll fees each direction!😀
