waiting for bedtime,
then staring at your kids while they sleep.

thinking “this too shall pass”,
but wishing time would stand still.

wanting a break,
but missing your kids while you’re away from them.

teaching them right from wrong,
then feeling your heart ache when discipline makes them cry.

wanting them to try even if they fail,
but feeling your heart break when that happens.

teaching them independence,
but never wanting them to stop needing you.

motherhood is a beautiful paradox. 🤍
