The world is asking malaria programmes to do more with less.
But doing more with less cannot mean expecting communities to carry the cost of retreat.
It means using resources more intelligently.
✅ Protecting what works.
✅ Reducing waste.
✅ Strengthening systems.
And investing in the partnerships, data and local leadership that deliver measurable impact.
This Day, we are choosing urgency.
Focus - not fragmentation.
Action - not delay.
Because every missed opportunity has a human cost.
Now we can. Now we must.

Southern Mozambique is flooded - and our hearts are with everyone who has been affected over these past few weeks, from our colleagues to the communities we protect.

Right now, parts of Maputo province have been severely affected, with thousands of people needing urgent assistance. With key routes being cut off, getting help to the right places has become a challenge in itself.

Our teams have mobilised vehicles from our fleet to support emergency response, helping transport medicines and consumables, assist with evacuations, and support rescue teams where they’re needed most.

And while the floodwaters will eventually recede, they leave behind something that doesn’t just “go away” on its own: stagnant water - perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, and a real risk factor for malaria transmission.

We’re monitoring closely, supporting the response, and staying ready to protect communities in the weeks that follow, because as we know, recovery isn’t just rebuilding roads… it’s preventing the next health crisis too.
