Our kids 2:

There are basic rules the Quran laid down regarding the upbringing of our children. We can get the major principles from from Surah Aal 'Imran, 35 to 37.

Here the primary focus was on the Mother of Maryam, Allah says:

إِذۡ قَالَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُ عِمۡرَ ٰ⁠نَ رَبِّ إِنِّی نَذَرۡتُ لَكَ مَا فِی بَطۡنِی مُحَرَّرࣰا فَتَقَبَّلۡ مِنِّیۤۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ

فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتۡهَا قَالَتۡ رَبِّ إِنِّی وَضَعۡتُهَاۤ أُنثَىٰ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتۡ وَلَیۡسَ ٱلذَّكَرُ كَٱلۡأُنثَىٰۖ وَإِنِّی سَمَّیۡتُهَا مَرۡیَمَ وَإِنِّیۤ أُعِیذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّیَّتَهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنِ ٱلرَّجِیمِ

فَتَقَبَّلَهَا رَبُّهَا بِقَبُولٍ حَسَنࣲ وَأَنۢبَتَهَا نَبَاتًا حَسَنࣰا وَكَفَّلَهَا زَكَرِیَّاۖ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَیۡهَا زَكَرِیَّا ٱلۡمِحۡرَابَ وَجَدَ عِندَهَا رِزۡقࣰاۖ قَالَ یَـٰمَرۡیَمُ أَنَّىٰ لَكِ هَـٰذَاۖ قَالَتۡ هُوَ مِنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ یَرۡزُقُ مَن یَشَاۤءُ بِغَیۡرِ حِسَابٍ

35. The wife of Imran said, “My Lord, I have vowed to You what is in my womb, dedicated, so accept from me; You are the Hearer and Knower.”

36. And when she delivered her, she said, “My Lord, I have delivered a female,” and God was well aware of what she has delivered, “and the male is not like the female, and I have named her Mary, and have commended her and her descendants to Your protection, from Satan the outcast.”

37. Her Lord accepted her with a gracious reception, and brought her a beautiful upbringing, and entrusted her to the care of Zechariah. Whenever Zechariah entered upon her in the sanctuary, he found her with provision. He said, “O Mary, where did you get this from?” She said, “It is from God; God provides to whom He wills without reckoning.”

Notice the following points, which I want to call steps to raising a pious child:

1. Maryam's Mother was herself pious, when you commit major sins in the presence of your child and expect him or her to be an angel , you are dreaming. Stop your vice before you become a parent. Choose the father or mother of ypu child wisely. Do not overfocus on beauty or money.

2. She planned for her child from the get go. She determined the child will be in service of God in the temple. Pious people put God first, not mundane certificates that expire when the child dies or becomes useless when the economy goes bad.

3. She prayed to Allah to protect not only her but her pffsprings from human and spirit Devils.

4. Maryam's teacher was selected by Allah. He gave her to Zakariyyah. A pious person. Get a teacher for your children. Don't take them to just any school because they must make their papers. Factor the protection of their religion into their education.
Don't give your children to teachers who will be touching them. Look for role models , in different sectors of society, you child can follow.

5. The most important aspect أَنَّىٰ لَكِ هَـٰذَاۖ WHERE DID YOU GET THIS ! Control your child's environment. Don't allow your child work almost exclusively without boundaries with the opposite s*x. Ask them where they got the phone they're using, the jilbab they're rocking, the chocolate or ice cream she's bringing home ...

Let your child mingle with a community of people you are similar to. Take them with you to the mosque, let them disturb us there. The noise of their disturbance today guarantees their presence in the mosque in the future.

Take them to your halaqah , Usrah, ta'lim, Assalatu etc in the least your child comes to identify with what you identify with.

Nature does not support a vacuum , you either fill it with good or else, evil will fill it.
