I am thrilled to share with you the video of my Keynote Address delivered during the prestigious 2023 Seminar organized by the University of Lagos DLISA.
In this captivating talk, I had the privilege to discuss the vital topic of leadership and behavioral management. Drawing from my expertise and experiences, I explored the profound impact that these aspects have on our personal and professional lives.
During the keynote, I delved into the fundamental principles of self-leadership, highlighting its significance in cultivating a resilient mindset, setting goals, and making effective decisions. I also emphasized the critical role of behavioral management in fostering positive relationships, enhancing communication skills, and achieving success in various endeavors.
The seminar was an incredible opportunity to connect with the exceptional students of the University of Lagos, who demonstrated immense enthusiasm and engaged in thought-provoking discussions. Their eagerness to learn and grow left a lasting impression on me.

Vices hinder productivity. Today, in the workplace, nepotism, favoritism and corruption have eaten deep into the values, assets and strengths of most organizations across the globe, leaving them shadows of their old self. More often than not, promotions are not merit-based. Buying and selling of positions have become common practices in many organizations, especially positions considered as lucrative and providing opportunities for illicit enrichment. Political patronage and nepotism based on kinship ties or political allegiance, depending on the local context, are also common practices in many organizations. In the absence of fair and transparent processes, officials can use their discretionary powers to promote friends, relatives or political supporters into jobs that they would not get otherwise. These practices usually fuel the development of corrupt patronage networks within the organization, and can greatly undermine the goal of building strong and efficient bureaucracies. These vices stiffen economic, political, socio-cultural, technical and human capital growth and development.
What are other corrupt practices in your organization that you may not be aware of? How do these practices negatively impact the organization? What are the legal implications of these practices? How should you, as a people manager address this matter? What are other causes of poor performances, weak work ethics and poor service deliveries in organizations across the globe? How can organizations arrest these malpractices of staff, without being dragged into legal mud?
For us as people managers and the conscience of the organization, who are responsible for the implementation of codes of ethics in the workplace, there is an urgent call to duty. The 8th Annual Conference of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch is packaged to provide competencies that would enable participants combat corruption, nepotism and favoritism in the workplace. Sessions are packed with events that will build minds on the need to be ethically agile in the world where negative vices thrive.
We look forward to receiving you at the conference.
