Sports | Fax360 News
The wave of celebrations for Nigeria’s victorious women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, continued as Zenith Bank hosted the African champions at its Corporate Head Office in Abuja.
The event is part of a series of receptions organized to honour the team following their historic triumph at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship, where they clinched their fourth consecutive and seventh overall continental title.
Zenith Bank, a long-time supporter and sponsor of women’s basketball in Nigeria, received the team in a warm and colourful gathering attended by top bank executives and staff. The bank acknowledged the team's efforts and reiterated its support for sports development in the country.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government had earlier rewarded the D’Tigress team with ₦50 million, in recognition of their outstanding performance and for bringing glory to the nation. The cash reward was announced during an official reception at the Presidential Villa.
D’Tigress' continued dominance on the African continent has not only elevated Nigeria’s global sports image but has also renewed calls for greater investment in women’s sports across the country.

Nurses Suspend Nationwide Strike After Reaching Agreement With FG
By Fax360 News
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has officially suspended its nationwide industrial action after reaching a deal with the Federal Government. The strike, which paralyzed operations in public hospitals for over a week, ended following high-level negotiations with the Ministries of Labour and Health.
The nurses had demanded fair remuneration, improved working conditions, and protection from workplace harassment. Many hospitals across the country were overwhelmed, with patients left stranded and healthcare delivery nearly grounded.
The union now awaits the implementation of the agreed terms, warning that failure to follow through may trigger renewed action. The development also calls attention to the deeper crisis facing Nigeria’s public health workforce.
