In Nigeria's journey toward stronger primary healthcare, universal coverage, and zero preventable deaths, women play irreplaceable roles at every level—from the grassroots to leadership.
Here's how women are transforming health systems:

Frontline Warriors: Female Community Health Workers (CHWs), who make up the majority in primary care, bridge gaps in rural and underserved areas by providing maternal & child health services, immunization drives, malaria prevention (like LLIN distribution & IPTp), nutrition education, and home-based care. Their cultural proximity builds trust and boosts uptake of essential services.
Advocates & Monitors → Women in communities, including mothers, grandmothers, and leaders in Ward Development Committees, champion accountability—tracking service delivery, advocating for funding, and mobilizing neighbors for child survival, antenatal care, and disease prevention.
Leaders Driving Change → Female health commissioners, advocates, and CSO leaders prioritize equity, inclusivity, and community well-being, leading to improved immunization rates, better reproductive health, and resilient systems. Initiatives like the Project show how women's voices amplify impact in states like Kaduna & Katsina.
Gatekeepers of Family Health → As primary caregivers and influencers, women promote preventive practices, reduce vaccine hesitancy, and ensure families access quality care—directly contributing to lower maternal & child mortality.
