Maintenance is Not a Cost - It's an Investment In heavy industries like cement manufacturing, equipment reliability defines production stability.
Maintenance strategy directly impacts: Plant
availability
Production targets
Energy efficiency
Safety standards
There are two main approaches:
1. Reactive (Unplanned Maintenance)
When equipment fails, we repair it.
Examples: Breakdown & Emergency maintenance.
Result: Downtime + production loss.
2. Proactive (Planned Maintenance)
We act before failure occurs.
Includes: Preventive Maintenance (Time/Usage Based)
Predictive Maintenance (Condition Monitoring)
Corrective Maintenance
Shutdown Planning
The real transformation happens when an organization moves from "Firefighting Mode" to "Reliability Culture".

Cable Tray Sizing - Step by Step Calculation
Correct tray sizing is important for heat dissipation 1, maintenance and future expansion M.
Let's see a practical example :-
Step 1: Take Cable Data
Assume we have:
8 Nos 60 mm diameter
6 Nos 48 mm diameter
10 Nos 20 mm diameter
Step 2: Calculate Cable Area
Formula:
Area==3.14×(D/2)2
60 mm
2826 mm² x 8 = 22,608 mm²
48 mm 1809 mm² x 6 = 10,854 mm²
20 mm 314 mm² x 10 = 3,140 mm²
Step 3: Find Total Cable Area
22,608+10,854+3,140
Total 36,602 mm²
Step 4: Apply Fill Factor
For power cables, assume 50% filling.
Required Tray Area=36,602/0.5
= 73,204 mm²
Step 5: Select Tray Width
Assume tray height = 100 mm
Width=73,204/100=732mm
Nearest standard size = 800 mm
