Blessing Oraekwe was banned from the 2025 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Liverpool because her mandatory s*x test results came in late. The tests were only done after Team Nigeria arrived in the UK, despite World Boxing warning weeks earlier that results had to be processed before 1 September. This mistake wasn’t about flights—it was about poor planning by the Nigerian Boxing Federation (NBF).

This reflects a bigger Nigerian problem:

Bad organisation – deadlines ignored, last-minute arrangements, and weak logistics.

Misuse of funds – money for athletes often diverted to promotions and politics instead of preparation.

Repeated embarrassment – doping scandals, coach disputes, and athlete withdrawals have become common.

Lost talent – frustrated athletes switch nationalities or quit because they don’t trust the system.

In the end, Nigeria “kills dreams” not by lack of talent, but by failing its athletes with negligence, corruption, and misplaced priorities—leaving them heartbroken on the sidelines while the world competes.
