many of us just want to recover our money. You buy fabric, sew the outfit, and then add a little extra. That’s it. But if you keep pricing like that, your fashion brand won’t grow. You’ll just keep going in circles.

Here’s what to do instead:

1. Know your cost clearly.
Don’t guess. Sit down and calculate everything you spent, fabric, lining, thread, zips, transport, electricity, even your time and effort. That gives you the real cost of that outfit.

2. Add your profit on top.
You deserve to earn from your work. After calculating your cost, add a profit margin (maybe 20–30%). If the total cost is ₦8,000, add ₦2,000 or ₦2,500. So your price becomes ₦10,000 or ₦10,500. That’s fair.

3. Remember: your value is more than fabric.
People are not just paying for materials. They’re paying for your creativity, your neat work, and your fashion experience. So don’t be shy about charging what your work is worth.

4. Stop cutting your price every time.
“Please, can I pay ₦5k?” “Just give me a small discount.” We’ve all heard that. But always saying yes to discounts will drain you. You’re running a business, not doing a favour.

5. Profit helps you grow.
That profit you make? It helps you buy more materials, upgrade your machine, or even hire someone to assist you later. Without profit, your business can’t move forward.

So next time you want to price your outfit, ask yourself:
“Is this price helping me grow or just helping me survive”
