Last year, I relocated to Uyo for some major engagements. When I got here newly, I didn't know where to get good bites. That week, I took a stroll and found a Fast Food; it had mouthwatering pictures of burger and other stuff on the walls.

Salivating, I walked in and placed an order. I was eager to taste something delicious but was disgusted when I took the first bite. Wondering why it looked good but tasted badly, I calmly called their attention to it but they had no valid explanation for it. It was heartbreaking that they sold it at a higher price. Well, I don't have to mention names but I vowed never to step my feet there again.

It's okay to package a product beautifully but what exactly is inside it? Is it as great as you've painted? That's how you lose customers.

It's okay to look good and dress beautifully but what exactly is inside of you? Is your personality as beautiful as you look physically?
Your beauty may attract but if your character is the opposite, your beauty is a waste.

I understand how angry you can be but if you break appliances at home out of anger, you aren't truly handsome even if your beards are breathtaking.

I understand how annoying some people's comments can be on social media but when you begin to use abusive words on them, you aren't truly beautiful.
"Fool, aren't you such an idiot? Can't you read my post and understand my point? This is my timeline and you have no right to exhibit your stupidity here."
Such replies show you are immature. Even if you have a gorgeous profile photo, you've ruined it all.

People may disagree with your points but there is a better way to communicate effectively without making it look like a fight. Sometimes, a simple explanation can settle conflicts. What's the use of making little issues look big? Ever since I learnt that not everything deserves a response, I started experiencing a higher realm of inner peace. When you realize that you must not talk all the time, you would know exactly what to ignore.

I understand how rich you are but the moment you begin to treat a cleaner like a complete nonentity, you're not beautiful even if you have charming eyes.

It's true that nobody is perfect; I am not perfect either. But there is a difference between someone who consciously continues to behave anyhow under the covers of 'nobody is perfect' and someone who works towards perfection even though he knows he isn't perfect.

Don't sit with folded arms and make excuses for your bad attitude. Study yourself closely and identify that thing you call a weakness. Then, think of how to become a better person. You can speak to a counselor about it or go on your knees in prayer but be sure you have that inner passion to build up a personality worth emulating. Don't just dress up in a great shirt, dress up in a great personality. Don't be like that burger.

Hear the truth about the industry.

People don't give opportunity to the best brains. They hand them to people they like. If you have a great brain, that's just a welcome bonus.

Don't hate me. I didn't make the rules. I met them here too.

So when you see someone who just started 'yesterday' getting speaking opportunities and getting featured on influential platforms, look deeper and imagine the behind-the-scenes mechanics.

These are the intangibles you won't find in most books.

There's this error in character I observed when I moved to Lagos.

People tend to size you up before considering how to relate with you.

Please don't learn that behaviour. I don't care if your mentor does it. They don't know any better. Find something else to copy.

One of my stand-out characteristics is that I remember people's names. Most you who have met me in person have noted that.

I greet everyone with the same respect as I do my mentors.

As much as I can, I remember your middle names and surnames too, and also your career designation for bonus points.

Do you think I just enjoy cramming that many names in my head?

People love the sound of their own names and in order to better connect, I make the effort to remember. I relate with them like we've known for years.

Who do you think would stay top of mind when it comes to the industry? ME!

With all my gymnastics consulting for companies as a Social Media Strategist, almost no one knew that I never got certified.

NOBODY ASKED.

NOBODY CARED.

They just wanted to deal with that funny guy with pink lips.
They told their friends and associates to deal with me exclusively, even though I was honestly overpriced at the time.

I can shape-shift into any industry and succeed there because behind every desk is a human being, and I know how to make them smile.

You can be Harvard-trained, U.K. Certified and all that, but if people don't like you, they won't cooperate with you.

Cultivating an agreeable, pleasing, likable personality can give you the quantum leap you're been looking for.
