Asaba PSPs Gives Kudos To DSWMB for easing their operations
The Association of Waste Managers, otherwise known as Private Sector Participants (PSP), Asaba chapter, has commended the Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, (DSWMB), Hon Matthew Mofe Edema, for giving purposeful direction to the Board
The Chairman of the Association, Mr. Samson Osuere, gave the commendation in an interview with our reporter in Asaba
Mr. Osuere noted that the State Capital Territory had maintained a clean look over the past five months due to the resolve of the Board to evacuate waste from the shoulders of strategic roads and streets, as well as median kerbs on a daily basis.
He said the Waste Managers were particularly happy with the Board for the regular maintenance of the Ibusa dumpsite servicing over 40 PSPs, which had made their operations easy, pointing out that access to the dumpsite was difficult before the coming of the Mofe Edema-led Board.
The Association's Chairman observed that indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Asaba and the environs had reduced significantly following the awareness campaign mounted by the Board, resulting in increased patronage of the PSPs.
Mr. Osuere, however, noted that there were still some recalcitrant residents who had vowed never to key into the PSP model nor pay their monthly waste management bills, disclosing that some residents were owing up to three years bill and had been dragged to the Mobile Courts
He called for stricter enforcement of the state environmental laws to boost compliance, adding that more aggressive awareness campaigns should be mounted to get more residents to be more environment-friendly and further reduce indiscriminate dumping of refuse and the existence of illegal dumpsites in the Capital City.

*DSWMB Contributing To Realistic Reforms Component Of Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda – BOARD CHAIRMAN*
The Delta State Waste Management Board has said it is irrevocably committed to ensuring that no garbage is found in the wrong place in any part of the state.
The Chairman of the Board, Hon Matthew Mofe Edema, who made this known in a chat with newsmen, said it was the establishment’s contribution to the actualization of the MORE agenda of the Oborevwori administration in the area of Realistic Reforms.
Hon Edema said the daily evacuation of waste from the shoulders of strategic roads and median kerbs, especially in the State Capital Territory, Warri, Uvwie and Agbor, was part of the reforms introduced by the Board to keep the Capital City clean at all times.
He explained that the idea was in recognition of Asaba as the fastest growing state capital in the country, adding that allowing waste to litter around town would make nonsense of the magnificent structures, good network of internal roads, and the serene environment Asaba had become synanimous with.
The DSWMB Chairman commended the Board members representing Delta Central, Hon Felix Erimedafe and Delta North, Hon Cosmas Igbenije for staying focused on the mandate of the organisation in their areas of jurisdiction and promised to continue to give purposeful leadership and direction to the Board.
Hon Edema assured that no senatorial district would receive less attention of the Board under his watch, stressing that the overall goal was to have a clean state everyone would be proud of.
He affirmed that achieving a clean environment was a collective responsibility and urged all critical stakeholders to ensure they played their parts as expected so that the state would be better for it.
