Rotary community in Awka welcomes the District Governor of Rotary International District 9142 to the SmithCity for his official club visit.

Rotarians, Rotaractore and Interactors in Awka welcomed the Chief Beacon of Hope, Rtn. Kelechi Anyanwu to the Smithcity of Awka.

An official visit by the District governor can include a variety of activities, such as visits to clubs, zones to commission projects, official meetings with other leaders or presidents, and trips to inspect or address issues within their own clubs.

These visits are part of a governor's duties, which include representing their district, building relationships, and ensuring the welfare of their constituents, as seen in the examples of governors visiting hospitals, meeting with the president of clubs, or commissioning impactful and timely projects.

Upon welcoming the Lead Beacon of Hope to the Smithcity of Awka, he was taking round the glaring facilities built in Awka for the comfort of her people - Solution Funcity. Group photographs were taken shortly after the tour.

Special thanks to club members who came out to welcome the Chief Beacon of Hope - DG Kelechi Anyanwu today at the Solution Fun city, Awka.

WORLD POLIO DAY WALK / IMMUNIZATION

The SmithCity Polio Walk / Immunization kicked off yesterday morning Saturday 25th October, 2025 at MPH Primary Health Care Centre, Amawbia (Beside Red Cross, Police HQS Command) and ended at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku-Awka.

The essence of a polio walk is to raise awareness about polio and promote vaccination through community engagement. These events, often held on World Polio Day, are a way for organizations like Rotary International to mobilize public support, advocate for children's immunization, and reaffirm commitment to achieving a polio-free world.

Interestingly, the World Health Organization, Anambra State in conjunction with the Anambra State Ministry of Health joined Rotarians and Rotaractors in Awka for the walk.

Let's continue to create the awareness until Polio is completed kept to zero. Together and as volunteers, we can achieve it.

The President of Rotary Club of Awka, Rtn. Chijioke Oguguo and the Chair, Youth / New Generation PAG Bonaventure Uzoh visited and fellowshipped with members of the Interact Club of Federal Government College, Nise.

The Interactors were happy having us come speak and interact with them.

Every child deserves the right to Basic Education and it is time for us to be the powerhouse for this great and transformational message. The learning environments must be conducive, pupils who don't have means of going to school sponsored, learning materials provided. These are what we've being called to do.

Let's put smiles on the faces of these young ones.
