Welcome to the month of June! I extend my warmest greetings to Ndi Awka North and Awka South, and to all Nigerians.

Each new month is a fresh opportunity to embrace hope, unity, and progress. As we step into June, may it bring peace to our homes, strength to our communities, and renewed commitment to building a Nigeria where justice, fairness, and opportunity flourish.

Indeed, our children remain the future, and the call for a new Nigeria is a call to safeguard their tomorrow. Let us continue to stand together for continuity, service, and a brighter future.

Happy Children’s Day: A Call to Protect the Future

Today, as we celebrate Children’s Day, my heart is filled with both joy and deep reflection. Our children are the treasures of tomorrow, the seeds of hope planted in today’s soil. They deserve a nation that nurtures their dreams, protects their innocence, and equips them with the tools to thrive in a changing world.

The Igbo say, “Nwa bu isi e ji ama obodo”, it is through the child that the future of a community is known. If we fail our children, we fail our tomorrow. That is why I join millions of Nigerians in calling for a new Nigeria, one where fairness, justice, and opportunity are not privileges but rights.

We must build a country where no child goes to bed hungry, where education is not a luxury but a foundation, and where every child can walk freely with dignity and hope. Politics will come and go, but the future of our children must remain our highest priority.

On this Children’s Day, I urge every leader, every parent, and every citizen to remember that the choices we make today will shape the destiny of our children tomorrow. Let us retrace our steps, embrace unity, and work together to save the future of our children.

Happy Children’s Day to every child in Awka North and South, in Anambra State, and across Nigeria. You are the light of tomorrow, and together we must build a Nigeria worthy of your dreams.

*Address to the Good People of Awka South and Awka North Federal Constituency*
_Delivered by Hon. Agbo Stephen Ndubuisi, Coordinator of Non-Indigenes for Prof. Oby Orogbu_

Ndi Awka North na Awka South, Ndewo unu!

I greet our royal fathers, religious leaders, youth leaders, women leaders, and all my brothers and sisters living and working in this constituency. Today I come to you not as a politician seeking votes, but as a witness to service.

My name is Hon. Agbo Stephen Ndubuisi, and I serve as Coordinator of Non-Indigenes for our Honourable Member, *Prof. Lilian Oby Orogbu*. Though many of us are not from Anambra by birth, Awka has become our home. And in this home, we have seen a leader who serves without asking “where are you from?”

Let me preach to you about what Prof. Oby Orogbu has done in just two years since you sent her to the House of Representatives in 2023.

1. *Education – Securing the Future of Our Children*
Prof. Oby knows that education is the greatest inheritance.
- She has renovated and built classroom blocks in Community Secondary School Achalla, Okpuno, Ebenebe, Mgbakwu, Ezioka, Agulu Awka, Ikwodiaku, and Mbaukwu.
- She paid JAMB fees for 170 indigent students for 2024/2025 and pledged scholarships for top students from each ward.
- She sponsored a Bill for the establishment of a College of Entrepreneurship Studies in Awka, so our youths can learn skills and create jobs.

Many children of non-indigenes schooling here in Awka have benefited directly.

2. *Infrastructure – Opening Up Our Communities*
A community without road and light cannot grow.
- She completed Ogechukwu Street Road in Awka.
- Constructed 1km roads at Holy Family Youth Village Amansea and St. Stephen Junction Mgbakwu.
- Installed over 400 solar-powered street lights across our 19 communities.
- Donated a 500 KVA transformer to Ifite Isuaniocha.

These projects are making our markets, hostels, and streets safer at night.

3. *Empowerment – Lifting the Small Man*

You’ve got it right. Just one small correction for accuracy:

The quote _“Whoever steals political power will never use it for the good of his own people”_ is actually credited to *Senator Uche Chukwumerije*, not *D**e Chukwumerije*.

*D**e Chukwumerije* is Uche’s son — a well-known performance poet and lawyer. He often performs political spoken-word pieces and references his father’s ideas, which is probably why the names get mixed up. But the original statement comes from *Sen. Uche Chukwumerije*, who served in the Senate and was known for hard-hitting takes on justice and democracy before he passed in 2015.

*Clean version you can post or use in a speech:*

> *Uche Chukwumerije on power and legitimacy:*
> _“Whoever steals political power will never use it for the good of his own people.”_
>
> After Nigeria’s 2023 elections, this line resurfaced. The thinking: if a mandate isn’t earned from the people, the leader’s loyalty shifts to whatever “system” installed them.
>
> *Why it still hits home:*
> *Legitimacy* – Without trust, governance becomes defensive, not service-driven.
> *Accountability* – “Taken” power breaks the social contract. Citizens feel owed nothing.
> *Cycle of distrust* – Belief that votes don’t count kills civic engagement.
>
> Chukwumerije warned that subverting the people’s will corrupts governance at the root. _How power is obtained shapes how it is
