A MORNING OF IMPACT: AMANA SICKLE CELL FOUNDATION COMMEMORATES WORLD SICKLE CELL DAY WITH HEARTFELT GET-TOGETHER

On the morning of June 19th recognized globally as World Sickle Cell Day by the United Nations Amana Sickle Cell Foundation once again brought light to the cause through a meaningful get-together, marking its fifth consecutive year of heartfelt advocacy and community support.

Held under the theme “Global Action, Local Impact: Empowering Communities for Effective Self-Advocacy,” the evening brought together sickle cell warriors, caregivers, and allies for a reflective, empowering experience.

The gathering was graced by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, chaired by His Excellency Alh. (Arc) Audu Sule Katagum (Wazirin Katagum), along with CEO Abdulqadir Gambo Musa, who praised the resilience of warriors and emphasized the need for sustained public education and inclusive support systems.

> *“Every year, we gather not only to raise awareness but to stand beside our warriors with hope, strength, and unity,”* said Abdulqadir Gambo Musa.

Sickle cell warriors shared deeply personal reflections and gratitude:

> *“Tonight, I feel seen. I feel celebrated. Being here reminds me that I’m not alone on this journey,”* shared Amina Mohammed, a 14-year-old warrior and longtime beneficiary of the Foundation.

> *“This get-together is more than a social event. It’s a reminder that we’re stronger together,”* added caregiver Malam Haruna Ibrahim.

The morning concluded with the distribution of nutritious food packages, a heartfelt gesture underscoring the Foundation’s continued commitment to well-being, nourishment, and togetherness.
