Meet Dr. Lazarus Zaka Gaza, MNI โ€“ A Gbagyi Son Who Rises to Lift His People

On a warm day, June 18th, in the heart of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Pyakasa to be precise, a child was born whose journey would become a testament to service, leadership, and Gbagyi pride. From the humble classrooms of L.E.A Primary School, Garki, to the historic halls of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, young Lazarus Gaza carried a vision to serve, to lead, and to lift his people.

Armed with degrees in History, Political Science, Rural Development, a Master of Public Administration, and a Ph.D. in Geography, Dr. Gaza became a beacon of excellence. His path took him from a Community Development Inspector in 1989, to making history as the first elected House of Representatives Member for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, giving his people a voice in the National Assembly.

Even when the military dissolved that Assembly, his passion never dimmed. He returned to serve in high-impact roles: Programme Adviser with UNDP, Council Secretary AMAC, Director of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Managing Director of Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, and later, Director of Human Resource Management, FCTA.

At every turn, Dr. Gaza created opportunities for Gbagyi sons and daughters. He became a door-opener, a mentor, and a champion of inclusion and development. In 2020, his journey was crowned with the honor of Member of the National Institute (MNI) โ€” one of Nigeriaโ€™s most prestigious leadership distinctions.

And in 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Dr. Lazarus Gaza Zakka as the Chairman of the 8th Governing Council, Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, entrusting him with yet another platform to shape education and policy for the next generation.

Today, when the story of the Gbagyi people is told, Dr. Lazarus Gazaโ€™s name stands out as a symbol of courage, opportunity, and selfless service. His impact cannot be overemphasized โ€” not just in positions held, but in the countless lives he lifted along the way.

Dr. Gaza is not only a man of titles โ€” he is a bridge for his people, a true Gbagyi icon.

Prince 7 Youth Development Initiative Visits Our Prestigious Palace

Today, we had the honour of receiving the Prince 7 Youth Development Initiative at our esteemed palace, where they engaged with our teenage daughters and sisters in a meaningful and empowering session.

The gathering was both impactful and enlightening, as the team sensitized and oriented the girls on important personal and developmental issues. At the end of the session, sanitary pads were distributed as part of their menstrual hygiene support effort, a thoughtful gesture that was deeply appreciated.

The CEO of the initiative, in his remarks, assured us that this is only the beginning. He expressed his commitment to return soon, this time to hold a similar engagement with the boys in our community. He also hinted at plans to support football-loving youths, promising to create opportunities that allow them to enjoy and grow through the sport.

We look forward to more fruitful partnerships and commend Prince 7 Youth Development Initiative for their noble cause.
