A Disappointing Experience at the Gluwa Youth Digital Skills and Empowerment Programme in Dutse, Jigawa State

The Gluwa Youth Digital Skills and Empowerment Programme, held in Dutse, Jigawa State, in partnership with the Jigawa State Government, was promoted as a groundbreaking initiative to equip young people with essential digital skills and empower them for success in the digital economy. The three-day event raised high expectations with promises of quality training, adequate provisions, and a rewarding experience for participants. Sadly, the reality fell far short of these promises, leaving attendees disheartened and dissatisfied.

Broken Promises and Organizational Failures

1️⃣ Poor Feeding Arrangements
Participants were let down by inadequate and substandard feeding arrangements. Meals provided during the programme were insufficient, leaving many hungry and unable to fully engage in the training sessions.

2️⃣ Substandard Accommodation
Accommodation facilities were another major issue. Participants were housed in poorly maintained, overcrowded, and unhygienic spaces, creating a highly uncomfortable and demoralizing environment.

3️⃣ Disorganized Physical Training
The training sessions, which were meant to be the highlight of the programme, were poorly executed. Facilitators appeared unprepared, and the curriculum lacked structure, leaving many participants feeling they gained little to no value from the experience.

4️⃣ Unfulfilled Promises
The promised programme package, which included comprehensive training materials and resources, was not delivered as advertised. Many participants felt misled as the event did not meet the standards outlined during the registration process.

5️⃣ Non-Authentic Certificates
Adding insult to injury, participants discovered that the certificates provided at the end of the programme were neither authentic nor credible. This further diminished the value of their participation and raised serious concerns about the integrity of the event.

For many participants, the programme was a source of frustration and regret. The lack of proper planning, coupled with the failure to fulfill promises, undermined the event’s purpose and left attendees feeling their time and resources were wasted.
In comclusion the Gluwa Youth Digital Skills and Empowerment Programme in Dutse, Jigawa State, was a missed opportunity to empower young people and make a positive impact. While the vision behind the initiative was commendable, poor ex*****on and broken promises tarnished the experience. Moving forward, organizers must address these issues to rebuild trust and deliver the meaningful empowerment they promised.
