On the first day of school resumption, I usually focus on helping students settle in, feel welcome, and prepare for learning. Some activities include:
1. Welcoming and Introducing Students: Greet students warmly and allow them to introduce themselves.
2. Classroom Orientation: Show students the classroom arrangement, learning materials, and important areas.
3. Review of School and Classroom Rules: Discuss expectations, discipline, and classroom procedures.
4. Attendance and Registration Check: Confirm students' names and update records.
5. Ice-Breaker Activities: Engage students in games or discussions to help them interact with one another.
6. Discussing Term Goals: Explain the subjects, topics, and objectives for the term.
7. Checking Learning Materials: Ensure students have the necessary books and supplies.
8. Diagnostic Assessment: Conduct a simple test or activity to determine students' prior knowledge.
9. Motivational Talk: Encourage students to develop positive attitudes toward learning.
10. Question and Answer Session: Allow students to ask questions about the new term and school expectations.

WHAT ARE THE MEASURES TO TAKE WHEN A CHILD DEVELOPS CRISIS IN SCHOOL?
When a child develops a crisis (such as a medical emergency, injury, seizure, asthma attack, fainting, severe allergic reaction, or emotional breakdown) during school hours, a teacher should take the following measures:
1. Stay calm and act quickly:
Avoid panic so that other students remain calm and
assess the child's condition immediately.
2. Give first aid if trained:
Provide appropriate first aid according to the nature of the crisis. Do not give medication unless authorized by school policy or a healthcare professional. If the situation is serious, call emergency medical services.
3. Inform school authorities: Notify the principal, head teacher, or relevant school administrator about the incident.
4. Contact the parents or guardians: Inform them about the child's condition and the actions being taken.
Monitor the child continuously. Stay with the child and observe any changes
5. Follow the child's emergency care plan: If the child has a known medical condition (e.g., asthma, epilepsy, diabetes), follow the documented emergency procedures.
6. Document the incident: Record what happened, the actions taken, the time of the incident, and the people notified.
