Adekunle Gold gifts ₦250k each to First Class and Distinction graduates, throws shade at OAU

Singer Adekunle Gold surprised many on X yesterday after randomly blessing First Class and Distinction graduates with ₦250,000 each.


It started when he tweeted, “If you graduated with First Class, post your transcripts.” Without saying why, users rushed to post their results.

Hours later, he tweeted again: “Check your DM, you might have been picked.”

Soon, screenshots of credit alerts began flooding the timeline. Some beneficiaries shared how broke they were before the unexpected gift, with one saying she had just ₦1,700 in her account.


At least 11 people have confirmed receiving ₦250k each from the singer, including a Distinction holder who initially got ignored because her DM was locked.


While giving out the money, Adekunle Gold didn’t hold back on a bit of old beef — reminding OAU student not to bother posting their First Class certificates.
