NYSC at 53: Gombe State Celebrations End with Thanksgiving Service and Prayers at the St. Peters Anglican Communion,Bolari Gombe state.

The activities marking the 53rd anniversary celebration of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Gombe State reached a memorable climax with a Christian thanksgiving service dedicated to appreciating God for the successes and achievements of the Scheme over the years.

The thanksgiving service brought together NYSC officials, Corps Members, as well as State government officials who gathered in an atmosphere of worship, gratitude, and reflection.

During the service, the Deputy governor of Gombe state,Manassah Daniel Jatau Ph.D called on Nigerians to continue praying for the restoration of the country from what he described as its present state of moral and societal decadence.

Dr. Jatau commended the vision of the founding fathers of the NYSC, and urged citizens to unite and work collectively towards restoring the nation's lost glory.

The Deputy governor appealed to religious leaders and residents to sustain prayers for continued peace, stability and development in the state and further urged the congregation to continually pray for leaders at all levels of government so they can discharge their responsibilities with fairness, wisdom and commitment to the people.

In her remarks, the state Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps Gombe state,Chinwe Nnenna Nwachuku,said the thanksgiving service was necessary in appreciation to God for sustaining the scheme and for the successes recorded since its Inception.She described the NYSC as one of the strongest establishments fostering national integration, where religion, ethnicity and cultural differences are set aside in the interest of national unity and peaceful coexistence.

Nwachuku thanked the Gombe State Government led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for its continued support to the scheme and appreciated the deputy governor for what she described as his fatherly guidance and commitment towards the successful discharge of NYSC activities in the state.
Nwachuku further appreciated the Venerable, clergy and the congregation for granting the scheme opportunity to host the Thanksgiving and prayers in the Cathedral.

Special prayers were offered for the continued growth and sustainability of the NYSC Scheme, its leadership at the national and state levels ,as well as the safety, wellbeing, and success of Corps Members and staff across the country.

During the service, ministers emphasized the importance of selfless service, unity, and patriotism, noting that NYSC has remained a veritable platform for fostering national integration and youth development in Nigeria for over five decades.
Prayers were also offered for peace, progress, and divine guidance for the nation, while participants sought God's protection and wisdom for all stakeholders involved in the administration of the Scheme.
The thanksgiving service marked the grand finale of activities lined up for the NYSC at 53 celebrations in Gombe State, bringing the anniversary to a spiritually uplifting conclusion and reaffirming commitment to the ideals and objectives of the Scheme.

For 53 remarkable years, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has remained a symbol of national unity, youth empowerment, leadership development, and selfless service to our great nation.

Since its establishment in 1973, NYSC has brought together graduates from diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds, fostering understanding, friendship, and national integration across Nigeria.

Today, we celebrate 53 years of building bridges, promoting patriotism, strengthening communities, and nurturing future leaders through service and sacrifice.

As part of the anniversary celebration, NYSC staff, corp members, men of the Nigerian police and Federal Road safety Corp Gombe state participated in a 3½-kilometer Walk in Solidarity from the Gombe Local Government Secretariat to the Gombe State Government House and finally to the Office of the Deputy Governor, demonstrating our commitment to unity, nation building, and community development.
