Basic drugs every poultry farmer should know.
Vaccines: These are not basically drugs but are essential in disease prevention. Examples include the popular Lasota vaccine used in preventing Newcastle disease and Gumboro vaccine used in preventing Gumboro disease.
Anti-coccidials: These are drugs used in preventing and treating coccidiosis in chickens. Examples include Amprolium and Toltrazuril. Always work with a veterinarian to develop and recommend the best anticoccidial approach for your chickens.
Dewormers: These are drugs used to kill and expel parasitic worms from the chickens' system. Examples include Piperazine and Albendazole. Please always consult your vet if you suspect worms in your chickens.
Vitamin C: This is highly effective in managing different kinds of stress in chickens such as heat, transport, or vaccination stress.
Multivitamin/Electrolyte: Also effective in combating stress and nutrient deficiencies, and also aids chickens in disease recovery.
Glucose: This is not typically a drug, but it is useful for a quick surge of energy, especially for weak birds trying to recover from transportation stress.
Antibiotics: There are different forms of antibiotics for different diseases. Never administer antibiotics without a prescription from your veterinarians. Always work with your vet whenever you suspect a disease outbreak on your farm.
Wound care supplies: Always have a first aid kit for wound care that will include antiseptics, antibiotic ointments, or sprays to take care of wounds in chicken.

You changed the brand of your poultry feed and your chickens started doing any of these:
-refused eating
-started passing watery poo/faeces
-stopped/reduced laying eggs
-started losing weight
-started becoming weak
These happened because you changed their feed suddenly. You shocked their system.
Changing feed is a form of stress to your chickens.
There is a proper way of changing feed. That is doing it gradually over a period of 12 days.
Days 1-3: 75% old feed + 25% new feed
Days 3-6: 50% old feed + 50% new feed
Days 6-9: 25% old feed + 25% new feed
Days 9-12: 100% new feed
While doing this, it is very important to add multivitamins and electrolytes to their water to help their bodies manage the stress of the feed change.
Remember to mix feed very well so the birds don't pick only the part they like and leave the rest for you like how picky eaters will eat jollof rice and leave onions out.
