Every year, African officials arrive in Washington for the IMF Spring Meetings and perform the same ritual.

They sit on panels. They speak the language of reform. They reassure investors. They explain their fiscal discipline. They defend painful policies at home in the vocabulary of external approval abroad. And beneath all of it sits the same unspoken assumption: that serious economic thinking still requires validation from the West.

That is the real crisis.

Not debt.
Not FX volatility.
Not even inflation.

The deeper crisis is psychological.
