FPI MANAGEMENT MARKS 3RD ANNIVERSARY WITH 1ST POSITION IN NATIONAL INSTITUTIONAL RANKING

The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has once again distinguished itself as the leading institution in Nigeria, emerging as 'numero uno' in the latest national ranking of higher institutions conducted by Pole Global Marketing, an international evaluation body, based on blackboard implementation and adoption, as directed by the Honourable Minister of Education.

The comprehensive evaluation covered over 180 institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.

The ranking assessed institutions on key performance indicators such as academic excellence, innovation, institutional management, and community impact.

In a media interaction, with the Rector, Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, FCA, FCIT,
on Sunday, October 5, 2025, he expressed his profound gratitude to God Almighty for this remarkable feat.

Speaking on behalf of the Governing Council and the entire Polytechnic community, Dr. Akinde described the news as a timely and uplifting recognition, especially as the present administration marks its third year in office.

Dr. Akinde commended his dedicated management team, staff, and students for their collective tireless efforts. He specially Lauded the Centre for Information and Communication Technology, CICT, headed by the Director, Dr (Mrs) Jumoke Soyemi for their unwavering collaboration, which has continuously t birthed groundbreaking innovations within the institution.

The Rector emphasized that this achievement is not just a celebration but a call to greater commitment, excellence in service delivery and sustained innovation in all areas of institutional growth.

With this latest ranking, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, once again stands tall among Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, reinforcing its reputation as a center of excellence, innovation, and academic distinction.

Exit of an ICON!

The Union under the leadership of our Chairman, Comrade Akeem TAIWO PhD and other Executive members of our great Union, announced with heavy heart the sudden death of one of our senior Comrade and Leader, Tpl. Sunday Olayinka OYESILE, MNITP, RTP at early hour of Saturday 24th August 2024.
Until his death, he was a 2-term former HOD(URP), former Director Academic & Physical Planning Unit, Current and Serving Director Physical Planning Unit of the Polytechnic , A Chief Lecturer and vibrant Member of Academic Board. Age 64. Burial arrangements to be announced later .
Adieu Tpl. Sunday OYESILE, continue to rest in peace Omo Oye BABA.

DUPE AYANGBENRO WINS ALUKO'S STUDENTS COMPETITION... POCKETS #300, 000.

Miss Ayangbenro Modupeola, an HND1, Mass Communication student in the School of Communication and information Technology of the Polytechnic has won the maiden edition of Arc. Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko Annual Students Competition : Writing and Public Speaking Competition themed Conversion of Polytechnics to Universities; Implications for TVET and Technological Advancement in Nigeria.

The annual competition was established to immortalise the immediate past Rector, Arc. O. O. Aluko in recognition of his enormous contributions towards the development of the institution.

The nine finalists who took turn to support or oppose the theme enlightened the audience with well articulated points to justify the side of the debate they belonged to.

Ayangbenro emerged winner of the grand finale of the event which took place today 13th May, 2023, the birthday of the immediate past Rector, Arc.Olusegun Olanrewaju Aluko Ph.D at the Multi purpose Hall of the institution.

She went home with a #300, 000 having beaten Miss Osinfade Oluwadamilola Elizabeth of the department of Taxation and Miss Jolaosho Eniola Victoria of the department of Public Administration to second aid third positions and carting away #200, 000 & #100, 000 prize money respectively.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Organising Committee of competition, Tpl. A.T Ajala explained that the competition was set up with the aim of promoting intellectual and leadership qualities among polytechnic students and all round development of the Nigerian Youths.

The Rector of the institution, Dr Mukhail Aremu Akinde in his address stated that the competition was established to identify and celebrate raw talents in the higher institutions of learning.

He adfed that the competition is a strategic action embedded in strategic planning of the institution which is all inclusive to increase students welfare . The Programme according to him is an annual event that gives room for students to showcase their technological endowment /talents in all categories and bringing all these out to public towards nation building.

The honoree, the immediate past Rector and the birthday 'boy' Arc. Olusegun Aluko was full of praises for the management, led by the Rector, Dr Akinde, staff and students of the institution for deeming it to honor him with a competition of this magnitude, which according to him highlighted his strong commitment towards the development of the future leaders.
He prayed that these students will continue to be good ambassadors of this great citadel of academic excellence.

The grand finale was laced with comedy and music talents presentations which showcased the inherent talents in the students.

All participants were encouraged with consolation prizes at the end of the event which witnessed by all the Principal Officers, Deans of Schools, Directors of Service Units, past Deputy Rectors, immediate past Bursar amongst other staff and students of the Polytechnic.

The event which was chaired by Chief Mrs Iyabo B. Apampa, a Governing Council member, represented by the incumbent Bursar, Mr. M. B. Akinola, FCA had Barr. T. O. Ogunseye, Ph.D, Barr. H. O. Dawodu, Dr. (Mrs) O. To. Afolayan and Mr. P. Seyi-Gbangbayau as the Panel of Judges.
