Convicted Nigerian Fraudster Spared Deportation Over Family’s Medical Needs
A Nigerian man convicted of romance fraud has avoided deportation from the UK after a tribunal ruled his family's medical needs could not be met in Nigeria.
Emmanuel Jack, who was jailed for three years in 2014 for defrauding six women out of nearly £200,000, had been facing removal from the country.
Jack, who arrived in the UK in 1997, posed as an architect on dating websites to target vulnerable women, ultimately deceiving them out of £186,000.
In 2022, the Home Office sought to deport him, but Jack launched a legal challenge to remain.
A London immigration and asylum tribunal ruled in his favor, citing concerns that his British wife and children would not receive adequate healthcare in Nigeria.
