President Nandi-Ndaitwah Launches Three National Task Forces to Drive NDP6 Implementation

President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah today inaugurated three National Task Forces on Economic Recovery, Health, and Housing and Land, fulfilling a key commitment from the Namibia Public-Private Forum and advancing NDP6 goals.

The President highlighted Namibia’s pressing challenges, including rising living costs, limited job creation, uneven service delivery, housing shortages, land pressures, and health system strains, noting that these issues require coordinated action. The Task Forces bring together experts from government, business, labor, civil society, academia, and faith communities to develop practical, results-oriented solutions.

Under NDP6, these Task Forces serve as strategic instruments to accelerate progress and ensure national priorities translate into tangible outcomes for citizens. Guided by the 8th Administration’s “business unusual” approach emphasizing urgency, alignment, and unity of purpose, they will focus on:

Economic Recovery: Promote growth, attract investment, support innovation, and create opportunities for youth.

Health: Strengthen the health system using evidence-based strategies and past reviews.

Housing and Land: Expand access to serviced land and dignified housing for families nationwide.

The President expressed gratitude to the Task Force members for their voluntary service and called on all Namibians to support this national effort, stressing that progress requires collective responsibility, mutual respect, and openness to new ideas.

“Together, we will strengthen our economy, build a healthier nation, provide dignified housing and land, and create a future where every Namibian can thrive.”

In her message to the public, President Nandi-Ndaitwah encouraged all registered voters to participate actively in the elections, urging them to choose leaders who reflect their aspirations and vision for the future. She emphasized that voting is not only a right but also a vital contribution to strengthening Namibia’s democratic institutions and governance.

The President reminded citizens that 26 November 2025 had been officially declared a public holiday to ensure that every eligible voter had the opportunity to engage in the democratic process without conflict with work or other commitments. She called on all Namibians to take advantage of this day, to turn out in large numbers, and to exercise their democratic rights, stressing that each vote plays a crucial role in shaping the country’s leadership and future.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has safely returned home, touching down at Keetmanshoop Airport this afternoon after her official visit to South Africa for the G20 Summit. Upon her arrival, she took a moment to reflect on the significance of the trip, emphasizing the importance of the Summit as a platform for international dialogue.

The President expressed her sincere gratitude to South Africa for its exemplary leadership during its G20 chairmanship. She also extended special thanks to President Cyril Ramaphosa for inviting her as a guest to participate in this high-level global gathering, which brings together leaders from around the world to discuss critical economic, social, and political issues.

Highlighting the broader significance of the Summit, President Nandi-Ndaitwah noted that it offered a valuable opportunity for African nations to articulate their collective priorities and concerns. She stressed that such forums are crucial for ensuring that Africa’s voice is heard on matters that directly impact the continent and its people, ranging from sustainable development and economic growth to climate change and global governance.

Through her participation, the President reinforced Namibia’s commitment to engaging constructively on the global stage and to advancing the shared interests of Africa within international decision-making processes.

The Presidency wishes to provide clarification regarding a short video clip currently circulating on social media, which shows only a fragment of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Opuwo–Otjivize–Okangwati–Omaseratundu Road in the Kunene Region.

It is important to note that the clip does not capture the full context of the President’s address. In her complete speech, President Ndaitwah emphasized the critical importance of prioritizing local residents when creating employment opportunities through government projects. She highlighted that such initiatives are designed to empower local communities and ensure that the benefits of development reach those who live in the affected areas.

Within this broader context, the President also encouraged individuals who are employed through these projects to approach their responsibilities with diligence, professionalism, and a strong sense of commitment. While acknowledging that illness is a natural reality, she cautioned against the misuse of sick leave or frequent absenteeism without legitimate reasons. She underscored that such practices undermine progress, delay the completion of projects, and ultimately disadvantage the very communities that these initiatives are meant to benefit.

President Ndaitwah’s message was therefore intended not as a dismissal of legitimate illness, but as a call for accountability, a strong work ethic, and responsible participation in government-led development projects. She stressed that workers must embrace the opportunities provided with seriousness and integrity, ensuring that local communities reap the intended benefits of these investments.

The Presidency urges the public and social media users to consider the full scope of the President’s speech rather than relying on isolated clips, which can be misleading. Those who understand the complete message are encouraged to educate others and help correct misinformation, rather than contributing to its spread.

In conclusion, the President’s remarks were a balanced appeal: recognizing the realities of life while emphasizing personal responsibility, accountability, and the importance of local community development through active and committed participation in government initiatives.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah attended the funeral service of the Late Kuku Petra Nakwenye Aluvilu Ya Ameya, the mother of Honourable Sophia Shaningwa, who serves as the Secretary General of the SWAPO Party of Namibia.

During the ceremony, the President delivered a heartfelt tribute, emphasizing that Kuku Petra lived a life defined by humility, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to serving others.

She noted that Kuku Petra’s unwavering faith in God was central to her character. This spiritual foundation shaped her outlook on life and guided the values she instilled within her family and community. According to the President, these values enabled her to become a source of strength and guidance to many.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah went on to portray Kuku Petra as not only a loving mother and respected matriarch but also a woman of deep faith and an exemplary member of society. Her influence, the President said, extended far beyond her household, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The President further highlighted Kuku Petra’s contributions during Namibia’s liberation struggle, noting that her moral courage and spiritual resilience served as a source of inspiration and support during some of the nation’s most challenging times.

She also stressed Kuku Petra’s role as a mother who nurtured and shaped a leader—Honourable Sophia Shaningwa—who today continues to demonstrate dedication, perseverance, and loyalty in her service to both the SWAPO Party and the nation.

“The principles she instilled—discipline, love, hard work, and faith—are clearly reflected in the leadership and character of her daughter, our Secretary General,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah affirmed.
