Some years ago, after school while I was job hunting. I couldn't get employment because I responded during my interview "I will try my best".

That Sunny afternoon, I got a call from a friend's friend who told me ABC are looking for teachers since I was a subject and classroom teacher during that time,

I applied for the job immediately, upon being called for interview, I discovered that it was a creche school, not primary nor secondary school but a creche school

So the lady after the interview listed my duties which includes changing of the babies diapers, bathing them, cleaning their feaces even when they defecate on the floor, piggybacking them, singing lullaby for them till they sleep, etc and when asked if I can do it? My response was "Sure ma, I will try my best ma"

After some weeks, I didn't hear from the lady, so I called my friends friend that actually told me about the school to find out what's happening, he said the lady called him and said that I said "I will try my best" instead of "I will do my best" . Lol, that was how I was disqualified and the job hunting continued till I decided to settle down and turn my passion which is "Afrocentric craft" into a full time job.

I told this story just to let you know how important skill acquisition is, skill is like a key used in opening door of fortune. As water is very essential to human life, so is skill. If I had actually sat myself down earlier and find my way with my passion and skills , I wouldn't have gone job hunting, because a self employed person can never go job hunting

So I want to ask you, how is your year going already? In few days time, we will be saying bye bye to January. Those skills you said you will learn this year, have you already started making plans on how to start or are you still procrastinating?

May I remind you again? "Procrastination is a killer of dreams" go learn that skill. It will take you to places you never expect to find yourself
