A small Cessna 172 Skyhawk crash-landed on Monday, April 20 in Pacoima, California after reportedly hitting high voltage power lines shortly after takeoff from Whiteman Airport.

The aircraft flipped upside down on impact, leaving significant damage, but thankfully no casualties on the ground were reported.

The pilot, the only person onboard, was rushed to the hospital, and his condition remains unclear.

Eyewitnesses acted quickly, helping pull the pilot from the wreckage before emergency crews arrived,an act of bravery that may have saved his life.

Authorities including the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
