ART X LAGOS

At 10X, the tenth edition of ART X Lagos, guests stepped into the Portraits of Modernity photobooth and became part of a living archive.

Inspired by the visual language and studio practice of J.D. ’Okhai Ojeikere—the ART X ICON Exhibition anchor, the photobooth resembled a 1960s Lagosian garden featuring the striking Patewo chair from Salu Iwadi Studios (tagged), which, like Ojeikere’s work, celebrates the sculptural beauty of Nigerian hairstyles.

These portraits captured by photographer, John Peter Chukwu and curated by Fikayo Adebajo, positioned you, our guests, as co-authors of a new archive—taken home as Polaroids, and carried forward as part of the wider story of ART X Lagos.
