Movie Review: THE ORDER
Rating: 8/10
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dayo: Jude Law plays Terry Husk, a worn-out FBI agent desperate to catch Bob Mathews (Nicholas Hoult), a white supremacist leader who is equal parts charming and terrifying.
“The Order” is the kind of thriller that builds tension slowly, focusing on real-world hate and the systems pushing back, rather than just diving into chaos.
You can tell this story is rooted in real events because it never feels overdone.
The script is sharp and simple, with clipped dialogue that suits the tone. What stood out most to me was the cinematography.
The tension during the bank robberies and shootouts is real, but it’s the quiet, slow-burn parts that hits the hardest.
That said, the movie isn’t perfect. Some of the characters - especially the women - felt like afterthoughts. Jurnee Smollett has great presence, but her role didn’t get the kind of depth it deserved.
And while the final confrontation is intense, it feels a bit too over-the-top for a movie that mostly keeps things grounded. It’s a small slip, but it stands out.
Ultimately, “The Order” leaves an impression. It’s well-acted and visually striking. It doesn’t try to fix anything or offer hope - it just shows the ugliness and lets it sink in. That’s part of what makes it effective.

Movie Review: KNOCK AT THE CABIN
Rating: 6.5/10
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dayo: “Knock at the Cabin” had me hooked right from the jump. I liked how the story didn’t waste time getting to the meat of things. But while the premise was solid, the story ended up feeling more forced than scary.
I have to give it to Dave Bautista - he really surprised me here. His character, Leonard, could’ve been just another generic tough guy, but Bautista gave him a calmness that made him feel deeper, not just scary.
Kristen Cui as Wen as totally believable and surprisingly grounded for a kid caught in such a nightmare scenario.
The camera work did a good job of making me feel trapped in that cabin with them.
However, there were some parts that felt a bit shaky. After the initial shock, the film fell into a repetitive cycle - visions, speeches, sacrifices, repeat. It didn’t feel like the story was building to anything.
Then there was the ending, which I feel didn’t hit as hard as it should have - instead, it played it safe. I get wanting a bit of hope in horror, but it felt like the story chickened out when it should’ve gone all in.
That said, “Knock at the Cabin” is still worth checking out. It’s not your typical home invasion horror, and that alone makes it interesting.
