After Ghana’s men’s 4x100m quartet of Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah and Edwin Gadayi successfully booked their qualification for the World Championships at the Debswawa World Athletics Relays Championship in the repacheg heats, they had finished their media duties and were supposed to leave the mixed zone.

But in their moment of celebration, they decided to stay back because Team Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m squad was up next.

Their words: “Let’s wait for Nigeria.”

They stayed behind hoping to celebrate another qualification with their West African brothers. Unfortunately, Team Nigeria finished 3rd in their race, which wasn’t enough to secure qualification, and the disappointment was visible on their faces.

This moment was a reminder that the rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria mostly exists on social media. In reality, these two nations share a strong bond built on mutual respect, friendship, and brotherhood.

Nigeria 🇳🇬 and France 🇫🇷 secured World Athletics Championships qualification from the women’s 4x100m repechage at the Debswana World Athletics Relays Championship in Gaborone.

Team France claimed victory in a tightly contested race, clocking 42.92s, while Team Nigeria followed closely in second with a season’s best of 42.94s to also book qualification.

Team Ireland 🇮🇪 secured qualification in the women’s 4x400m relay at the Debswana World Athletics Relays Championship in Gaborone with a season’s best of 3:23.83.

Team France 🇫🇷 followed closely in second, clocking 3:24.48 to also seal qualification, as both teams booked their spots for the World Athletics Championships.
