Unjust Arrest of Ajirioghene Otaba: A Call for Justice

We have received disturbing news about the arrest of an Isoko son, Mr. Ajirioghene Otaba, allegedly orchestrated by Chief Matthew Edevbie, elder brother to former Delta State governorship aspirant, Olorogun David Edevbie. His arrest follows a video he made, urging the completion of the 132kV substation electricity project awarded to Chief Edevbie by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) 14 years ago.

After carefully watching the video, we see no reason for his arrest. Instead, he should be commended for speaking up about the vandalism happening at the project site. His demand for the project’s completion is in line with the Federal Government’s whistleblowing policy, which encourages citizens to expose abandoned or mismanaged public projects.

Rather than addressing the concerns raised, Chief Edevbie allegedly used his influence to have Otaba arrested in Lagos, far from the project site in Ozoro, Delta State, with plans to transfer him to Abuja. This is nothing but a clear act of intimidation against someone demanding accountability.

Our Stand and Demands

1. Immediate release of Ajirioghene Otaba – His arrest is unjust and must not stand.

2. Completion of the 132kV substation project – This project is crucial for improved power supply in Isoko.

3. A public response from Chief Matthew Edevbie – If there are challenges preventing completion, he should explain them instead of silencing voices.

4. Intervention from Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori – The government must prevent growing tension and possible unrest in Isoko.

We also call on Olorogun David Edevbie to protect his family’s reputation. His silence will only reinforce public perception of power abuse.

We are not ignorant of the usual tactics used by the rich against ordinary citizens, such as framing them for "threat to life" or "character defamation." We are watching closely.

If Ajirioghene Otaba is not released within the legal timeframe, we will take every necessary and lawful step to resist this injustice.

Isoko Will Not Be Silenced!

Authorities Urged to Investigate the Sudden Appearance of Dozens of Individuals in Vulnerable States Along Isoko Roadways

In a concerning incident early this morning, over 50 individuals, reportedly in vulnerable mental states, were discovered at various locations along the Owhe-Oleh Roundabout-Ozoro road in Isoko. The presence of these individuals has raised significant questions and concerns within the community, prompting local authorities to initiate a careful response.

Upon discovery, some individuals had already ventured into nearby areas, while others were safely taken into custody by local authorities, with a number currently receiving assistance from police personnel. The nature of the situation has led the community to call for a full investigation into how these individuals arrived undetected, especially given the security checkpoints on routes leading to Isoko.

Questions remain as to how the vehicle transporting these individuals managed to bypass multiple security checks, and locals are urging law enforcement to undertake a thorough inquiry. Authorities are expected to look into both the circumstances of their transportation and the wellbeing and proper care of these individuals.

A swift response from the police and relevant stakeholders is hoped to provide clarity and necessary support, ensuring both community safety and humane treatment for all involved.
