NDP Academy

The NDP Academy hosted leading experts from the data privacy ecosystem to share their insights and experiences on the current data privacy landscape. The event included a panel discussion that features the National Commissioner/CEO of NDPB, Dr. Vincent Olatunji; CEO of Taxtech, Bidemi Olumide; Partner of AO2LAW, Oyeyemi Oke; Babatunde Bamigboye Esq. Head, Legal, Enforcement & Regulations (NDPB). The session focused on the state of play for data protection across the country. The National Commissioner gave his perspectives on the Bureau's work and the possibilities for wealth and job growth.

The event was aimed at providing an opportunity for leading data privacy professionals to meet and share experiences and insights into the rapidly changing legal and technological environment for data protection.

Additionally, students who won the Privacy Week Essay Competition held by the academy during privacy week were housed at the NDP Academy Alumni event. The students who attended the event with their parents expressed their opinions about data privacy, highlighting how crucial it is for children's online safety.

The CEO of Taxtech, Bidemi Olumide, informed the participants that the event will be an annual designed to celebrate the alumni and also to make stakeholders aware of their roles and responsibilities in data governance. It will also serve as a tool for fostering coordination, partnerships, and collaboration between the different stakeholders as well as empowering them with the skills needed to participate effectively in this new ecosystem.

Moving forward, the academy will continue to work with the Federal Government, states, and other relevant agencies to ensure that the conversation around data protection and data governance continues. With that, it's expected that more people will become familiar with all aspects of data protection and data governance to make informed decisions.
