What if your body started dancing... and you couldn't stop?

In July 1518, a woman stepped into the streets of Strasbourg and began dancing.

She danced for hours.

Then days.

Soon, dozens of people joined her.

Within weeks, hundreds were dancing uncontrollably.

Some collapsed from exhaustion.

Others reportedly died from heart attacks, strokes, or sheer fatigue.

The strangest part?

No one knew why it was happening.

Doctors at the time believed the cure was more dancing, so musicians were hired and stages were built.

But the frenzy only grew.

More than 500 years later, historians still debate the cause—mass hysteria, illness, or something else entirely.

One thing is certain: the Dancing Plague remains one of the strangest mysteries in human history. 💃🕯️
