Aworanka

Born in 1978, Bolaji Ogunwo is a Nigerian visual artist. He obtained his B.A. in 2000 from the University of Benin, a Master's degree from the University of Lagos, and a Ph.D. in Painting from Delta State University, Abraka. In the course of his studio practice spanning over two decades, he has participated in over 50 local and international art exhibitions.

He has 5 solo exhibitions to his credit, four in Nigeria and one in Manchester, the UK in 2017. His works can be found in notable collections around the globe.

He is considered a mannerist and stylistic painter whose works often makes use of exaggeration and cubist forms.

He experiments with forms and lines, as well as fusing Ankara designs with his works to give them an African touch.

His practice is inspired by works of masters like Kees Van Dongen, Pablo Picasso and Kolade Oshinowo.
