HOW DO WE GET HERE?
I attended public schools throughout my entire educational career. We were trained in the best way in both primary and secondary school, well disciplined, but reverse is the case today.

A red pen in our report card then means a bad performance, my uneducated grandma knows what it means and we get reprimanded for it. What we have today is a system of deceit where red pen is no longer in use in report cards. All in the name of not wanting the parents to get angry? This same parents passed through the training I was subjected to. Why acting differently today?

Position in exam is another way of separating the wheat from the chaff. My position then used to be from 1st to 3rd. Whenever it is not first my dad doesn't beat me up, he will talk senses to my head, that the person that got the first position is a child of someone and a pupil like me. This simple statement is enough to motivate me to perform better in the next exam. Another thing my dad check no matter my position is my percentage and the average. What we have today is a system where we stopped writing positions all in the name of not wanting the parents to get angry 😡

Another important thing missing today is honest and sincere comments in report cards. All in the name of satisfying the parents, school owners/teachers tell them lies in the comments section. This continue to pile till the child's attitude can not be corrected again. My dad doesn't joke with comments and he used to act strictly on it

I taught in private secondary school for good 5 years, today I am lecturer, the burden of the colossal failure in the system of both primary and secondary school is been passed to us. I fear what the future of our children will look like with the set of students I am teaching presently at the higher institution of learning, turning out to be the one to teach my children. Wahala go be like bicycle.

Let check our system please.
School owners should maintain their standards.
Parents should be sincere with themselves.
