Japanese firms achieved a breakthrough in 6G with a device 20 times faster than 5G. This prototype transmits data at 100 gigabits per second over 100 meters.

Four companies have collaborated since 2021 to develop sub-terahertz technology for 6G, which uses much higher frequencies than 5G and requires entirely new devices.

The team made significant contributions: DOCOMO on systems, NTT on high-frequency devices, NEC on antennas, and Fujitsu on signal amplifiers.

This paves the way for future applications like ultra-fast video streaming and real-time controls in autonomous vehicles.
