This week, Author of the Classic, Staying Saved in School , was a guest speaker at Chrisland High School on the occasion of their annual Library Day themed; Read Achieve Create Empower (RACE).
Her talk was brief but powerful as she taught the kids the 4 principles for success in life
1. Discipline: it’s not for everyone, but if you will do great things you must begin to walk away from TV and anything else that won’t add to your future
2. Consistency: you can’t do it only when you feel like. Discipline is hard but consistency is what adds up to greatness
3. Humble Confidence: refuse to allow pride in your life, but also do not allow a debased view of yourself. Don’t think of yourself as small. That’s not humility.
4. Plan to lead: a core of Mrs. Benedicta’s purpose, she told the kids that there are two kinds of people in every class. Those who are reading to pass school exams and those who are reading to pass life’s exams. She explained that the 2nd group always read beyond what they are taught in school.
The high point of the event was when she graciously donated copies of her classic, Staying Saved in School, to the school’s library, which was received with so much joy and excitement.
She explained that this is her own way of showing the young people that she believes in their future.
