ATTRACTING THE COAT OF MANY COLOURS

"Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors" (Genesis 37:3).

In Genesis 37:3, we see Israel (Jacob) making a beautiful coat of many colors for his son Joseph, a gift that sets him apart from his brothers. This coat wasn’t just an expression of love; it was a visible symbol of divine favor and destiny. But there are both visible and invisible reasons behind Joseph receiving this extraordinary gift.

The Visible Reason: Joseph was Israel's beloved son, the child of his old age, who held a special place in his father’s heart. This coat was a public acknowledgment of that love, drawing attention to Joseph’s unique position in the family. It was a symbol of honor, something others could see.

The Invisible Reason: The coat was also prophetic, pointing to Joseph's future greatness. Just as God gave him dreams that showed his rise above his brothers (Genesis 37:5-11), the coat symbolized the unfolding of his divine purpose - rulership. The multiple colors of the coat represent the seven colors of the rainbow. When all the colors of the rainbow are mixed, it forms a white light, which symbolizes dominion via brightness, among other things. God’s favor often comes before our understanding, but it sets us apart for greater things, even when others may not understand it.

The coat of many colors was more than just a gift; it was a key to Joseph’s destiny. Like Joseph, you, too, have a purpose. Just as Joseph's coat was a symbol of his father's love, so too can our differences be seen as signs of our worth. As Joseph's coat of many colors marked him as different, so too can our unique gifts and talents set us apart."

Trust that the “coats” you wear, whether visible or hidden, are preparing you for the crown of dominion you are destined to wear. This tunic of many colors is indeed a pointer to the crown that your divine purpose is about to put on your golden head. Wear your 'coat of many colors' with pride, for it signifies your unique gifts and talents that set you apart." - Shalom
