*** LIL TIPS ON WHY YOUR ENGINE OVERHEATS ***

Note first that, Overheating is when the temperature of the engine climbs to a point where mechanical damage can occur.

**Why an engine overheats**

- Hot weather

- Cooling system leaks - A leak in the cooling system causes air to enter the cooling system.
This air becomes a large bubble that effectively stops cooling system from circulating and the coolant remaining inside the engine becomes superheated.

- Blockage of the cooling system : might be a foreign object, mineral deposit

- Failed water pump - Over time, the bearing or impeller inside the water pump can wear or break, and the impeller will no longer turn. When this occurs, it’s usually a short time until the engine overheats.

**What should I do?**

At the first sign of overheating, shut off your air conditioner and open your windows: This decreases the load on the engine and helps it cool off.

If it continues to overheat, turn on the heater and blower: This transfers the heat from the engine to the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Don't take chances with your vehicle if it starts to overheat.

If your car overheats even once, something is wrong and needs to be fixed.

Contact your auto technician to inspect what's causing it to overheat.
