If you still treat your wife the way your father treated your mother or grandmother, you may struggle in your marriage.

The reason is simple, many present-day fathers have shown their daughters what genuine love, care, and respect look like. When you see women refusing to tolerate what our mothers endured, it is because a longstanding error has been corrected.

Today's fathers are more present in their daughters' lives. They value them, support their dreams, listen to their opinions, and give them the freedom to make decisions. Many no longer see the girl child as less important or incapable of carrying on their legacy.

Some of our mothers suffered in silence and accepted certain behaviors because they experienced the same treatment from their own fathers and grew up believing it was normal.

The standards have changed. Many women now know their worth because they were raised by fathers who taught them they deserved love, respect, and a voice of their own. 🚶😊

My best friend marry the man I was supposed to marry.

Three months passed after the day my world fell apart.

Three months since I discovered that the man I planned to marry and the woman I called my best friend had been betraying me behind my back.

The first few weeks were the hardest.

I barely slept.

I barely ate.

Every morning I woke up hoping everything had been a terrible nightmare, only to remember the truth all over again.

Sometimes I would find myself staring at my phone, scrolling through old photos of us.

Photos from birthdays.

Photos from vacations.

Photos from the day Daniel promised he would never hurt me.

The same promise Sarah had once made as my best friend.

I deleted them all one night while crying so hard that my hands were shaking.

It felt like deleting pieces of my life.

But I knew I had to do it.

I couldn't keep living in the past.

My mother became my biggest source of strength.

Whenever she noticed me struggling, she would sit beside me and remind me that some heartbreaks are actually blessings in disguise.

At first, I hated hearing that.

How could losing the two people I trusted most possibly be a blessing?

But as the weeks passed, her words slowly started making sense.

I stopped checking their social media.

I stopped asking mutual friends about them.

I stopped wondering whether they were happy together.

For the first time in months, I began focusing on myself.

I joined a fitness class.

I started reading again.

I spent more time with family.

I even got promoted at work after successfully handling a major project.

Little by little, I started feeling like myself again.

The pain never disappeared completely, but it no longer controlled my life.

Then one afternoon, everything changed.

I was sitting in my office during lunch break when my phone suddenly rang.

The number wasn't saved.

Normally, I ignored unknown calls.

But something made me answer.

"Hello?"

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then I heard a voice I never expected to hear again.

"Emma..."

My entire body froze.

I recognized that voice instantly.

Sarah.

A thousand emotions rushed through me at once.

Anger.

Disappointment.

Confusion.

Memories.

I gripped the phone tighter.

"What do you want?" I asked.

My voice sounded colder than I intended.

Sarah let out a nervous sigh.

"I know you probably don't want to hear from me."

"You're right. I don't."

Another silence.

Then she continued.

"I just felt you deserved to hear something from me directly before it gets around."

A strange feeling settled in my stomach.

I didn't like where this conversation was heading.

"What are you talking about?"

Her voice became quieter.

"Daniel and I are getting married."

For a moment, I thought I had heard her wrong.

The office around me suddenly felt silent.

The laughter of my colleagues.

The noise from the air conditioner.

Everything faded into the background.

Getting married.

Those two words echoed inside my head.

This was the same wedding that should have been mine.

The same future Daniel and I had spent years planning together.

I closed my eyes.

Not because I still loved him.

But because hearing those words reopened wounds I thought had finally started healing.

Sarah continued talking.

"We've set the date for next month."

I said nothing.

She kept waiting for a reaction.

Perhaps tears.

Perhaps anger.

Perhaps begging.

Instead, I surprised both of us.

"Congratulations."

The silence that followed was almost funny.

She clearly wasn't expecting that response.

"That's all you have to say?" she asked.

I laughed softly.

"What else do you want me to say?"

Sarah hesitated.

Then she admitted something that confirmed my suspicions.

"I don't know... I just thought you would have more to say."

There it was.

The real reason she called.

She wasn't calling out of kindness.

She wanted to know whether I was still broken.

Whether she still had power over my emotions.

But she didn't.

Not anymore.

"I genuinely wish you both the best," I said calmly.

Then I ended the call.

A week later, another surprise arrived.

I returned home from work and found a large envelope resting on my dining table.

My younger sister handed it to me.

"It came this afternoon," she said.

The moment I saw the names on the envelope, my stomach tightened.

Sarah and Daniel.

I slowly opened it.

Inside was a wedding invitation.

An actual invitation.

My eyes widened.

After everything they had done, they expected me to attend their wedding?

I read the card twice, convinced I was misunderstanding something.

But there it was.

My name printed clearly among the invited guests.

I couldn't believe it.

My sister watched my expression.

"What are you going to do?"

I stared at the invitation.

Part of me wanted to tear it into tiny pieces.

Part of me wanted to burn it.

Instead, I placed it inside a drawer and shut it.

Out of sight.

Out of mind.

At least that was the plan.

Two days before the wedding, I was relaxing at home when the doorbell suddenly rang.

I wasn't expecting anyone.

Curious, I walked toward the door.

The moment I opened it, my heart nearly stopped.

Standing outside was Daniel.

But this wasn't the confident man I once knew.

His suit looked wrinkled.

His eyes were bloodshot.

His face was pale.

And he looked terrified.

For several seconds, neither of us spoke.

Then he finally said the words that made my stomach twist.

"Emma... please. We need to talk."

My best friend marry the man I was supposed to marry. (The Engagement I Never Saw Coming

Part 2.

For a few seconds, none of us spoke.
Sarah stared at me as if she had seen a ghost. Daniel looked equally shocked.
The bag of snacks lay scattered on the floor between us.

"Emma..." Sarah finally whispered.
I looked from her to Daniel and back again.
"What is going on here?"
Neither of them answered immediately.
That silence told me more than any explanation could.
My chest tightened.

Daniel stepped forward. "Please, let me explain."
"Explain what?" I snapped. "Why you're in my best friend's apartment? Or why both of you look guilty?"
Sarah lowered her eyes.

The sight broke something inside me.
This was the woman I trusted with every secret.
The woman who knew how much I loved Daniel.
The woman who had listened to me talk about our future for years.

And now she couldn't even look me in the eye.
"How long?" I asked quietly.
Nobody answered.
"HOW LONG?" I shouted.
Sarah began to cry.
Daniel rubbed his forehead and sighed heavily.
"About six months."
The words hit me like a slap.
Six months.

For six months they had been lying to me.
Six months of pretending.
Six months of watching me make wedding plans while they carried on behind my back.
I laughed bitterly.

Not because anything was funny.
Because I couldn't believe this was real.
"You both sat in front of me," I said. "You both listened while I talked about marriage."
"Emma, we never meant to hurt you," Sarah said through tears.

I turned toward her.
"Then what exactly did you mean to do?"
She had no answer.
Daniel tried to speak.
"Things changed between us."
"Things changed?" I repeated. "That's your explanation?"
He looked ashamed.

But his shame meant nothing to me now.
"What happened to all your promises?" I asked. "What happened to introducing your family? What happened to our future?"
Daniel looked away.

And then he said the words that shattered me completely.

"I don't think I love you anymore."
The room became painfully quiet.
I felt as though all the air had disappeared.
Not because he had fallen out of love.
People's feelings change.
What hurt was that he chose my best friend.
Out of millions of women in the world.
My best friend.

The person who should have protected my heart when he couldn't.
Without another word, I turned and walked away.
Sarah called my name several times.
Daniel followed me to the stairs.
But I didn't stop.

That night, I blocked both of them.
I cried until morning.
And as the sun rose, I made myself one promise:
If they wanted each other so badly, they could have each other.
What I didn't know was that this wasn't the end of the story.
It was only the beginning.

My best friend marry the man I was supposed to marry. (The Engagement I Never Saw Coming)

Part 1

When I met Sarah in university, I never imagined she would become my best friend. We were complete opposites. I was quiet and careful with my words, while she was lively and could make friends with anyone within minutes.

For eight years, we shared everything—secrets, heartbreaks, dreams, and even the fear of growing older without finding true love.
Then I met Daniel.

Daniel was kind, responsible, and hardworking. We met at a family gathering, and what started as casual conversations quickly became something deeper. Within a year, our families knew each other, and everyone expected wedding bells soon.
"He's the one," I told Sarah one evening as we sat in my apartment eating jollof rice.

She smiled and squeezed my hand.
"I'm so happy for you. You deserve it."
At the time, I believed every word she said.

A few months later, Daniel got a job opportunity in another city. The distance was difficult, but we stayed committed. He called every night and promised that once he settled down, he would officially introduce his family for marriage preparations.
Then something changed.

The calls became shorter.
The messages became less frequent.
Whenever I asked what was wrong, he blamed work stress.

At the same time, Sarah suddenly became very busy too. She stopped visiting as often and rarely answered my calls immediately.
I didn't think much about it.

After all, she was my best friend.
One Saturday afternoon, I decided to surprise Sarah at her apartment. I bought her favorite snacks and headed there without calling first.
As I approached her building, I noticed a familiar black SUV parked outside.
My heart skipped.

It looked exactly like Daniel's car.
"No," I whispered to myself.
Thousands of black SUVs existed in the city.
It couldn't be his.
Trying to calm my nerves, I climbed the stairs and knocked on Sarah's door.
No answer.

Just as I turned to leave, I heard laughter from inside.
A man's laughter.
A voice I knew very well.
Daniel.
The snacks slipped from my hand and scattered across the floor.

For a few seconds, I stood frozen.
Then the door slowly opened.
And standing there together were Sarah and Daniel.
The color drained from both their faces.
No one spoke.
No one moved.

But in that single moment, I realized my life was about to change forever.
