The Lagos government removed illegal structures along Makanjuola Street in Iju-Ishaga as part of its ongoing environmental enforcement exercise.

The sanitation was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Thursday.

“It is the responsibility of the Lagos state government because the lanes would lead to estates and will also help to decongest floods,” stated the minister.
Mr Umahi gave the directive during an inspection tour of the coastal highway, accompanied by some members of the National Assembly and other stakeholders.

In the advisory, NiMet attributed the heightened risk to the persistent rainfall experienced in June.

It warned that further widespread rainfall expected during the period could trigger flooding as soils across much of the country are unable to absorb additional precipitation.
