These are the types of car exhaust smoke:
1. Black Smoke Black smoke indicates that the engine is burning too much fuel, a condition known as high-speed operation. This may be due to several factors disturbing the air-fuel mix.
2. White Smoke This usually means that coolant is burned in the engine, meaning something is absolutely wrong. The most common cause is a grilled rear gasket, which can quickly cause the engine to overheat.
3. Blue Smoke Blue smoke is a clear sign that your engine is burning oil. The liquid can seep into the combustion chamber where it is burned with the fuel. You’ll likely notice ignition failures in your car when you turn the switch keys, or find your vehicle shaking more than usual when it’s on slow motion.
4. Gray Smoke If the exhaust smoke is gray or bluish-tinted, this usually means your engine is burning oil inside the combustion chamber. Oil combustion can be caused by many causes, ranging from leaking valve seals to defective piston segments...
