Remorse is not repentance....
Sin-centered messages may create remorse; but Grace centered message (which is the gospel) produces repentance.
Repentance is a change of mind toward God... a sinner may see God as unreachable and harsh...but when Grace (the goodness of God) is preached, it leads a person to Repentance (Romans 4:20)...
Remorse will lead men to the altar... Repentance will lead men to Christ....
