Why Tell Your Child "Go and Make Me Proud"🤔

📌Dear parent and guardian, as the Senior School Certificate Examination commences, if you could, please don't ask your scholars to "go and make you proud" with their results. It could add the extra pressure of not wanting to disappoint you on their shoulders.

📌And, why should you always principally make your child's success about your reputation? Why not turn the spotlight on him, showing him his anticipated joy and fulfilment...

📌And, yes, you should do more than to pay for his exams and step back expecting him to go and succeed just so you can later say, "I'm proud of you."

📌You should also cheer him on about succeeding to make himself feel proud and fulfilled!

📌Please support him as much as you can. Don't mount pressure, it might not work for your own child.

📌Quit threatening him with consequences or making him become afraid of you, in the bid to 'make him sit up'.

📌Seasons like this have the capacity to either earn you deep trust and reliability in his heart or create a gap you will soon hate to know exists.

📌Let your sincere affirmative words and counsels come long before success comes. Don't forget to also provide emotional stability and psychological safety.

📌Wholeheartedly standing with your child through challenging or demanding moments means a lot. He won't forget how you made him feel.

📌Some experiences become memorials, so learn not to define your child's identity by their circumstances.

📌If you understand these things, you can handle things better than how you were probably treated "in your days".
