PRODUCER'S MIND & PRIORITY

Today, let us go back to the bases. I have noticed that the problem of most Producers & Audio Engineers is LACK OF CONFIDENCE.
You lack confidence because you are not sure what you have done is good or not.
The Truth is that our confidence reveals itself in our product.

If OUR MINDS CHANGE, MANY THINGS WILL CHANGE ABOUT OUR SOUND - and it will go a long way in transforming our production.

Quality is defined in different ways by different people, so it can take awhile to learn all the ways in which songs can be refined. But if you pay attention, you will develop your own values.
You will agree with me that,
- Two people cannot produce the same way
- Two engineers cannot mix a song using the same stems the exact same way, one will sound different from the other.

The reason is that our MINDSET & PRIORITY are different. Our experience & tools available are also different.
Don't copy! Music Production is an art, you are allowed to express yourself - be free to be yourself in the sound.

It's over 25 years in Production and Audio Engineering work, I can't say I know it all but I have gotten to a point where there is nothing you want to ask about Music Production that I am ignorant of.

I woke up this morning and thought, If OUR MINDS CHANGE, MANY THINGS WILL CHANGE ABOUT OUR SOUND - and it will go a long way in transforming our production.

If you ask yourself every step of the way (during production or mixing), "Do I like this or not?"
You will naturally develop your own perspective on what you like and what is "good." - Use your ears (listening to your monitors) cross checking with your eyes (watching your meters & values).

If you get it wrong, probably;
- Your monitors are deceiving you - you might need better monitors
- Your space is revibrating and making it difficult for your monitors to do their work - You might need a better soundproofing system
- Your ears are deceiving you - you might need to train your listening ears (hearing frequency & tones)

ARE YOU AWARE?
- Your mood affects the way you perceive sound.
Introduce color lightning in your production space to make you feel relaxed and good.

- When you shut down some of your sense organs, you hear differently.
-Try Switch off all lights & focus
-Try Close your eyes and listen like a listener not as an engineer (imagining/pretending to be in a club or somewhere else)
You will be amazed that your hearing capacity/strength will increase.

When it comes to values, the only one that's really bad is "no values at all." If you don't know what you like, just listen!
The definition of what constitutes "good" and"quality" is extremely subjective and ever changing.

Clients have different opinions; therefore, the only way to approach this subject of value and priority is to study your Client and read his mind. It is important to recognize what your client values, so that you know where they are coming from. It makes it easier to work with them.

Discuss with them before, during & after the project.

With this in mind, Next Lesson we will discuss each of the aspects of a recorded piece of music that can be refined and common suggestions that recording engineers make in each area.
